These days, shopping for food you can trust to serve your whole family gets tricky – you’re reading the labels on packages in the supermarket and are unsure what some of these ingredients and additives even mean. If anyone in your family has any food sensitivities, this becomes quite the task. You’re checking for preservatives, the presence of seed oils, and other concerning factors.
You want to serve your family real food you can trust.
Dishes you’d be proud to serve your family as if you made them yourself. Our food begins with a simple story. It starts in a two-burner tabletop stove in a small kitchen in tiny, majestic Mauritius, and my mom – known fondly by her grandchildren as Machetti – who wove her culinary prowess on every recipe she encountered.
She had a gift for feeling her way through a dish and adding just the right amount of this or that. She put the highest premium on quality.
Only the best ingredients made it into our food.
Her samoussas were the constant. Golden, crispy, packed tight with satisfying fillings; they were always in the house, ready to be fried up the moment someone came by. After late lessons, tired and ravenous, the family knew there was something delicious and comforting waiting at home for them.
Soon Machetti began selling her handmade samoussas. More and more people were getting to taste and experience her creations, and our family tradition naturally transformed.
Our legacy became a premium product.
Today, Petite Île shares our legacy with your family: the same recipes, emphasis on quality and handmade care, brought from one family’s kitchen in Mauritius to your table, made the way Machetti made it: by hand, with the best ingredients, and with the same magic touch that started it all.
